Boy Meets Macbook Pro!
It happened. After 5 days of calls to the Apple store in NY I discovered that they received a shipment of Macbook Pro’s this afternoon. I got the fix I needed. I hopped on the R line and prayed the stock would last long enough for me to reach SOHO. When I arrived, a very friendly sales rep named Jeremy told me they received a few hundred just an hour ago and their were only 10 left. I was lucky enough to snag a 2.0 Ghz model. Here I am sealing the deal 10 minutes after walking in:
I was very anti-social and immediately left my friends that came with me to SOHO and took this sucker home for NotSleepy configuration.
Here is a photo of the machine booted in my hotel on the last night of the SES conference:
I need a name for her. Any suggestions?
How about Traitor?
Glad to see you finally got MacBook Pro! Names…hmmm…how about “Kamikaze”
Whoohoo!
Names… hmmm…how about… Suzen? No? What about Britney, then? LOL!
Andre
Glad to see you got it. Since I see you got an earlier model, I am wondering, did you get one with any of the problems that seemed to plague some? (ie. Fan noise, screen issues, heat issues, etc.) Mine has had none of the issues mentioned above. Mine runs cool, quiet and quick!
I added the AppleCare Protection plan, just in case, and a 200gb hard drive when it came last summer. I love all the space it gives me. $300 delivered isnt bd for that kind of hard drive space in a laptop. And the installation was easy peasy. Took about 45 minutes begining to end.
Anyways, I know this is an old issue since you got this long ago, but in a search of MacBook Pro images online I found your photo and blog. Glad to hear you got one of these amazing machines. One thing that amazes me as a Mac user who converted from PCs 7 years ago is this; think of how many “Unpacking” photo sets you see on websites like Flickr. Now think of how you never see unpacking sets on people who just got a Vaio, or a Dell. Tells you something doesnt it?
Take care.
