Now Google’s Breaking 301’s!
Aaron just IM’d me about some weirdness he was seeing in the SERP’s. He had a site that was 301ing the domain.com to www.domain.com. The problem was that Google was indexing the 301 page! I had never seen this before but a quick query found many more. Is BidDaddy broke?
Google query to find some of the indexed 301’s
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=%22301+Moved+Permanently%22
And check out #1 position for this query:
http://www.google.com/search?q=birds+cornell+edu+all+about+birds&btnG=Search
Categories: Google
Here is a slightly culled example which shows about 143,000 exact matches…
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=intitle%3A%22301+Moved+Permanently%22+%22The+document+has+moved+here%22&btnG=Search
It looks like the results are the same on Yahoo. I have a feeling that the problem is in the way the redirects are bing done.
what query are you using in Yahoo to find those results? I cant find anything to match the results that show up using the query described in the first comment.
